The Philippe Vandenberg Foundation is looking for a motivated researcher for pioneering research on artists’ estates, foundations and other initiatives for artists’ legacies. The intern will be in charge of the compilation of their first global overview in the context of a field study initiated by the Foundation.

The function consists of:

  • Developing a methodology for the global mapping.
  • Researching and documenting initiatives for artist’s legacies.
  • Communicating your findings in written form.
  • Disseminating your findings in a public website.

The research runs from the month of June to the end of August.

A commitment of two full time months is expected, but the work rhythm can be determined in consultation with the foundation.

The internship can take place in Philippe Vandenberg's studio or from home.

Profile:

  • Has an interest in art, art legacy management and the functioning of the art world.
  • Has excellent heuristics.
  • Has excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Sets the bar high but does not get lost in details.

You will work in a recently emerging field of the arts: the world of estates, foundations and other initiatives that take up the responsibility to manage, research or promote an artist legacy. Through your research, you will actively contribute to the sector’s professionalisation and become one of Belgium's leading specialists in art legacy initiatives.
